In-Home Senior Services, locally owned and based in Gorham, Maine, provides in-home, compassionate personal care, home care and skilled nursing services that contribute to the overall well-being of senior citizens and their families. In-Home Senior Services’ wide range of care-giving support services allows seniors to live independently and safely in their own home instead of moving to a nursing home or life-care housing program.
This is how it works:
- You make the initial call.
- We schedule a personal interview in your home to assess your needs and introduce our company.
- You prioritize services according to your needs and finances. We tailor a schedule of in-home care to meet these needs.
In-Home Senior Services can provide three levels of in-home care:
Personal Support Specialist (PSS)
Personal Support Specialists with In-Home Senior Services are certified with the state. They attend a 50-hour course that teaches how to help clients with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) and IADLs (Incidental Activities of Daily Living).
A homemaker is a staff person who can do light housekeeping, meal preparation, shopping and transportation. A companion can do the same tasks but the focus is more on keeping the client company in the home and engaging the client in recreational activities such as board games, walks and reading aloud. Homemaker and companion responsibilities often overlap.
Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)
Certified Nursing Assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses have completed post-secondary nursing instruction and successfully passed an examination for their certification. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, they are trained to provide a variety of skilled nursing services in the clients’ home.
About the company
In-Home Senior Services Inc. was established in 1994 by Anita Francoeur as a private agency to provide in-home care and personal-care services. She retired in 2015, and the company is now owned by Kathleen Candage and Theresa Norton. Kathleen and Theresa have been with the company since 1994 in several different capacities. Tina Halkiu is a registered nurse and joined the company in 2013 as in-take coordinator. Deb Charron, who has joined the office team, has worked out in the field since 2011. Anita Francoeur still keeps her hands in the business and visits frequently.
In-Home Senior Services emphasizes a continuing commitment to high-quality, compassionate, in-home care services. These services include a constant recognition of the dignity, independence and individuality of each person served. Our staff understands the needs and desires of our clients and we adhere to them as closely as possible. The company provides services to residents of Cumberland and York counties.
We are community oriented and work closely with various organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association, Southern Maine Agency on Aging, community hospitals and home health agencies, hospice and elder attorneys and doctors, to mention a few.
Services are paid for by a combination of private pay, MaineCare, Veterans Administration and long-term care insurance policies.
