The McLellan is a new alternative in senior living in downtown Brunswick, Maine.

Our mission is founded on the wisdom from a book written by Atul Gawande, “Being Mortal.”  We believe that our mission here at The McLellan is not just to provide housing and activities, meals and transportation. Senior living should be larger than that.

Our mission is to enable well-being.  And well-being is about the reasons one wishes to be alive.  Those reasons matter not just when we are young and not just at the end of our lives, or when debility comes, but all along the way.  Here at The McLellan we are all about your reasons for living.  We learn what you value and we make every effort to surround you with a life and opportunities unique to you, that enable your individual well-being, life and family, to live completely and fully.

Here at The McLellan, we have 18 home apartments with full kitchens, washers and dryers, balconies, patios, fireplaces, heat pumps.  When you walk into one of our homes, you feel instantly that you are in a place, you have a sense of place, that feels like home, like a place you could stay for a long time.  You may choose to live somewhere else, but everyone I have shown The McLellan to, feels a sense of place.

We have a tavern, a small theater, a fitness center, a wonderful kitchen and an incredible chef, Margaret!  Health is important to us.  You can’t have well-being without health.  We have a personal trainer, a balance clinic, a foot specialist, chair massage, strength and stability classes, all focused on your specific needs so that your full life can continue.  We have a fabulous RN, Terri, who will be by your side, follow you as you age and help you to age-in-place the way you want to.

We are small enough to treat each other truly as close friends and family and as such, just like families of your own, we all go the extra mile for each other.  Not because we have to, but because when you live in a small community, you know each of you matter and you just want to.

We are more than senior housing.  We are The McLellan.  I invite you to visit and offer you a place at our dinner table any day of the week. Like all homes, we love company.
