The senior expo in Freeport, planned for Wednesday, October 7, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, will feature five different speakers.

10:00 – The Church Ladies. Are you wondering how to dispose of all the wonderful stuff you’ve gathered in the last half century? The Church Ladies are estate sale experts. They’ll give you tips and tricks on how to sort for an estate sale, what’s selling now, what to expect in pricing, and how to get rid of leftovers. You don’t have to be moving or downsizing to want to lighten up a little!
11:00 – Dr. Peter Guay of Maine Medical Center’s Joint Replacement Center, will talk about new knee replacement options, and the latest remarkable trends in joint replacement in general. Dr. Guay, an orthopedic surgeon, has practiced for 25 years in Maine. This is Dr. Guay’s second talk at the senior expo in Freeport.
12 noon Salvation Army Planned Giving Join Amy Anderson for lunch (lunch provided for first 25 attendees). Amy will talk about Tips and Traps When Naming Beneficiaries. Learn how to coordinate designations between your will, various insurances, accounts and jointly-owned property for a smooth-working estate plan. The Salvation Army Planned Giving program is the Expo’s silver sponsor.
1:00 – Building an Alzheimers-Friendly Business. A workshop by Home Instead. This program helps businesses in our communities become a more welcoming environment for those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. The program covers potential signs of dementia, triggers for common behavioral issue, and suggestions for handling situations and interacting with people who may have Alzheimers or dementia.
2:00 – Bladder Health. Pelvic Floor Specialist Leslie Parker will talk about how the bladder works, how it misbehaves (leading to urinary frequency, urinary urgency, nighttime voiding, and urinary incontinence), why it is not behaving, fluid’s role in bladder issues, and the pelvic floor muscles’ role in bladder issues. She will give some simple fixes and have plenty of time for Q&A. Leslie published a book this past June which specifically relates to women and bladder issues called ‘The Art Of Control; A Woman’s Guide To Bladder Care’ and reached Amazon’s #1 Best Seller status on the day it was released. Her next book will be about men and bladder issues. Books will be available.
