Maine Relay is a free statewide service that allows people who are hard of hearing, deaf, or who have speech disabilities to communicate by telephone. Through specialized equipment (for example, captioned phones or a TTY), users make calls to standard voice telephone users. Some forms of TRS have voice and hearing carry over options so callers may use their own voices or residual hearing if they prefer to do so.
Stay connected with family, co-workers, and friends! It has never been easier with Maine Relay. Relay services use specially trained relay operators to connect calls between deaf and hard of hearing users, and standard telephone users. Maine Relay Services are available 24 hours a day, every day, 365 days a year. All calls are confidential. No records of any conversations are maintained.
Maine Relay offers information, demonstrations, outreach, and training on how to use the service. For more information, contact the Maine Relay Outreach program at Disability Rights Maine at deafservices@drme.org.
