AAA and Spectrum Generations will host a senior driving expo Friday, August 19, 2011, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Muskie Community Center, 38 Gold Street in Waterville.
Multiple vendors, including the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Waterville Police Department, will be speaking about license renewal, licensing in relation to medical issues, and the do’s and don’ts of driver safety. AAA will present “Keeping the Keys: help extend your safe driving career,” – a workshop to help older drivers be proactive in managing their driving careers, recognize changes in driving that come with age, planning ahead for continued mobility, as well as an overview of resources that can help accomplish those things.
Central Maine Motors, the expo sponsor, will showcase a vehicle with the newest smart features, and one of our Maine Senior Guide resources, Ride-Away, will display a wheelchair accessible van with a selection of mobility products and services for the disabled community. Other free services at the Seniors Drivers Expo are hearing and vision screenings, a brake reaction time test, and informational on-line programs.
